What is Patreon? Patreon is a platform that will help DoneForDiDi give you exclusive content, community, and learning  while raising monthly income from Patrons (or subscribers).  Best of all, Patreon is a space without ads, trolls and racist algorithms!

When will the WLC be on Patreon? Beginning April 1st.  

Wait, why is the WLC on Patreon?  The WLC is adding another community space that will feature original daily content from your Admin Team. 

This space will give our collective members an opportunity to engage with the team and build community with the Admins and other Patrons via unique content at several different levels designed for non-Black WLC members:

  • WLC Tier 1 "Pumpkin Spice Basic" - Access to the Facebook & Patreon community! On Facebook, you've got the learning guides, events & lessons AND you can help us build this new space as a charter member.

  • WLC Tier 2 "White guilt loading..." - Permanent access to all WLC Events via replay, Quarterly WLC Admin Book Club & more.

  • WLC Tier 3 "My ancestors probably owned slaves" - All prior benefits, exclusive access to The Full Set Archives, personal pics and special guides from your Admins.

  • WLC Tier 4 "*Starts sewing the white savior cape*" - All perks from the other tiers plus a letter from DiDi Delgado, access to DiDi's private poetry notebook and private live events with the Admin Team.

  • WLC Tier 5 "Mayo Moneybags" - You get everything from the prior tiers plus a special discount on DDE products, consultations & workshops as well as a surprise curated box of D4D Goodies once a year.

What is the difference between the WLC on Facebook and the WLC on Patreon?  Our robust Facebook community is the central location for our curriculum (Guides, formerly known as Facebook Learning Units).  On Facebook you will continue to see daily posts from the Admin Team, you can post to the group, and engage with the Admins and members of the collective on Facebook. The WLC on Facebook will host a “Guest Admin” each month, have live events, and continue to explore different Facebook-based offerings as we tangibly support Black liberation through reparations.  

Patreon is a brand-new platform for DoneForDiDi!  We are excited to carve out a new community space, away from Facebook.  Patreon is where you will further engage with the Collective, catch replays of all WLC events and programs.  WLC Programming like the D4D Book Club, D4D Watch Parties, chats and live reacts as well as The Full Set Podcast will move to Patreon in April. 

Will the Admins still post educational content in the group? YES!  The WLC Admin Team & Guest Admins will continue to post in the WLC Facebook Community on a daily basis and engage with members of the collective.  Patreon posts from the Admin Team will offer a more nuanced look at topics, and give members of the Collective an exclusive opportunity to take the conversation further.  Special WLC Programming like the D4D Book Club, D4D Watch Parties, chats and live reacts will move to Patreon in April. Patrons will also receive behind-the-scenes access to DiDi’s podcast, The Full Set, first look at the new content plus a look at what doesn’t make it into the public episodes. 

Can I remain in the Facebook group if I am not a Patron? Yes, absolutely.  The WLC on Patreon is a separate, exclusive experience that is designed to complement the WLC on Facebook.  After April 1st, you must join the WLC on Patreon to access Admin Team programming and to have extended access to recordings of all WLC Events.   

Does this mean I will pay a monthly contribution to both Donorbox and Patreon? Current Members of the WLC who have a recurring monthly payment set-up with Donorbox should continue their contributions to the Donorbox Petty Cash Fund.  New Members should join the WLC on Patreon, which will automatically include this contribution to the Petty Cash Fund.  

Joining the WLC on Patreon gives you access to the new hub for the majority of our WLC Admin Team programming.  The WLC on Facebook will continue to be the centralized location for our WLC curriculum and the platform for our exclusive events, but after April 1st, to access Admin-hosted programs like the D4D Book Club, Watch Parties and other special programs, you will need to join the WLC on Patreon.  

The combined monthly contributions from Donorbox’s Petty Cash & Patreon are how we are able to support Black women, non-men, and other marginalized genders (MaGes) with small, direct, cash relief payments AND produce and share content and events crucial to our anti-racism message.  Petty Cash also supports local programs across many states as well as paying the admin team in charge of these initiatives and content creation within the WLC on both Patreon and Facebook.  

Can someone be a Patron and not a part of the Facebook group? Yes!  Because the WLC on Patreon is a completely separate platform, it is perfect for members of our collective who are either not on Facebook or not very active on Facebook. 

Can I still go to WLC Events if I’m not a WLC Patron? Yes!  We will continue to have public & private events in the WLC on Facebook that will be available to members of the WLC.  After April 1st, replays of live events will only be available on the WLC on Patreon.

How do I engage with Admins on Patreon? In a very familiar way!  You can comment on posts, and engage with the Admin Team and other members of the collective on any of the Patreon posts available to your tier.  Patrons can also post in the Community section and send messages to the Admin Team.

Can I still give monetary gifts to the Admins for special programming? Of course.  Additional funds can be sent for any reason: as a means of expressing gratitude for a personal interaction, as a way to support admins during a challenging period of time, or as a way to increase reparations during a member’s personal windfall.
