Done For DiDi’s Black August Challenge

The deaths of incarcerated Black revolutionaries Khatari Gaulden and George Jackson were two of many state-sanctioned murders that inspired the sacred tradition of Black August. From the Attica Uprising to revolution behind the walls of the San Quentin State Prison, to right the fuck here, Black August commemorates fallen freedom fighters, political prisoners, and modern visionaries of Black Resistance.

This Black August, I need white folks to give us our flowers now. What does your commitment to Black liberation really look like?
We need more than holidays and commemorations- We need action. Show up.

Become a “founding accomplice” of 40 Acres and a School, our radical vision and urgent vision to build a Black Liberation epicenter on the colonized lands of New England.

The D4D Black August Challenge will get you truly connected to this work. The month-long challenge will include content, education, and a deeper understanding of the Black liberation movement.  It’s a tangible and powerful way to commemorate not only the San Quentin Resistance and the Attica Uprising but recommit ourselves to the ongoing struggle for abolition, self-determination, and Black Liberation.

Let’s go - you’ll get an e-mail reminder for each task and the first 50 people to complete the Challenge will be acknowledged as a “founding accomplice” on a plaque at the community center of 40 Acres and a School. Manifest with us!
