DiDi Delgado is an award winning poet, educator, author, activist, and journalist. She is currently Head of Operations for The Society Of Urban Poetry (S.O.U.P.) as well as the recently launched workshop development program, “The DiDi Delgado Experience, LLC.”
Using art and advocacy, both initiatives aim at bridging the gaps between the intersections of race, class, gender, sexual identity, and orientation--all while practicing radical philanthropy through direct giving models.
DiDi is also an organizer with Black Lives Matter Cambridge, where, most recently, she co-organized a 40,000+ person march on the Boston Common for the Fight Supremacy Counterprotest. That direct action effectively shut down 62 synchronized white supremacist marches scheduled to occur across the United States.
DiDi has simultaneously served on the leadership team for the ACLU's BCPA Committee, and the Boston Branch of the NAACP's Young Adult Committee. She also served as the program assistant for Multicultural Growth and Witness at the UUA. DiDi strives to continue to hold allies accountable in practicing the radical thought and action necessary to disrupt institutions of oppression.
DiDi has been published and cited in the Huffington Post, The Boston Globe, Democracy Now!, The Root, Propublica, The Observer, NBC New’s Outfront, Shelterforce, Yes! Magazine, Slate Magazine, Mother Jones and Vanity Fair. She is consistently on the front lines blazing pathways, creating channels, and fostering connections in support of the most marginalized.
Additionally, DiDi was recently selected to participate in the CultureSummit 2018 Artist Incubator in Abu Dhabi. DiDi is the 2017 recipient of the YWCA Cambridge Women of Color Leading Change Award, and the 2016 Drylongso Award honoring people doing "extraordinary anti-racism work in Greater Boston." DiDi is also the recipient of the 2015 Jack Powers Stone Soup Savor award, an annual honor bestowed upon one poet serving the Boston/Cambridge community.
Deeply passionate about both her local and global community; DiDi believes that art and activism go hand in hand.
